As I sit down to write this, many memories come to my mind. Some were etched long back; some I garnered after I started my journey in the surveillance industry, and the rest were anecdotes I heard from others.
Nevertheless, they are genuinely inspiring then, today and tomorrow. When I say that the Indian security surveillance industry is synonymous with “Lookman”, that’s an undeniable fact. This is because we are one of the first companies in India to spearhead the idea of safety, guarded against all corners, with security as the paramount principle.
My father, Dr. Saifuddin Bharmal, was a visionary man, way ahead of his time. More than 35 years back, he not only envisioned the growing need for security and surveillance across various sectors in our country but also made it a reality. So, when I hear him being referred to as the “Father of the Indian Surveillance Industry,” my heart swells with pride, making me feel humble about the great lineage I am bestowed with.
Over the years, we witnessed drastic changes in the world of surveillance. Countries came together to pass on the lead in technology to another, and the tide shift was nothing less than phenomenal. But, as they say, change is the only constant in this world; the geopolitical influence we witnessed in the last couple of decades shifted the gears very quickly, and so did we. It is, after all, in our DNA to rise to the occasion and accomplish.
At Lookman, we work on R&D, innovation, workforce, and a component manufacturing ecosystem for the backbone. Government policies paved the way for positive outcomes and played a critical role in transforming everything about security.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world,” said Mahatma Gandhi. India is not diffident anymore. The Indian manufacturing industry is making the world; sit down and make note of it – all thanks to highly inspiring initiatives like ‘Skill India’, ‘Make in India’, ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ etc.
The Indian flag is soaring to new heights with our heads held high, and it is everyone’s responsibility to empower the growth of our country without an iota of fear.
The security industry will always experience omnipresent growth. Therefore, one has to be aware of the fast-growing, changing requirements in the world of surveillance, and we at Lookman are precisely doing it.
SECURA is now driven by an extensive range of AI, meeting all specific requirements and etching incredible success stories every other day. I am incredibly proud of my highly committed team of scientists and engineers working relentlessly towards finding solutions to a plethora of security challenges.
At Secura, new-age scientific and technological advancements form the epitome of our products. We have always been at the forefront of introducing the best surveillance equipment in the country, and in the past four years, when research and development accounted for more than 50% of our spending. This substantiates the importance that Secura places on innovation.
These are exciting times for being in the Artificial Intelligence and Cloud space. With a portfolio brimming with landmark projects like ours, the resources get access to an entirely new level of cross-platform integrations and generate insights from Citywide data, directly enhancing the operation of the smart city and greatly the experience of its inhabitants.
Our short-term research objectives will focus on improving our government sector offerings for the channel market. These products have been deployed in extremely high QoS (Quality of Service) environments and will offer excellent value to consumers who demand more from their surveillance systems.
Our strategic tie-up with IIT Madras, which topped the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) for being the top engineering college for four years in a row, aims to create an unparalleled research environment for AI in the surveillance field. Of course, academics and researchers have always worked with us, but, in this hyper-charged scenario, we expect great things shortly as we look to reinvent many of the building blocks of modern surveillance technologies.
Our pursuit of sustainable deployment methods is another endeavour. The majority of datacentres that house servers for video management and analytics have operational costs that exceed the datacentre cost in about 2.5 years. This points towards the need of the hour: sustainable coding and deployment. The whole world needs to review and reconsider how much power is consumed by each line of code in their program. Our partnership with Nvidia has helped create processing hardware and software that run at a fraction of the energy that would otherwise be needed.
As I mentioned earlier, these are exciting times. Let us grow strength-to-strength.
